Our story

Our story: The Chapel Sydney

The Chapel Sydney began on the 26 th of May, 2013 with 35 people meeting in Chatswood. In our previous church experience, we saw a need to shift from a mono-ethnic church model to a more inclusive multi-ethnic church model, which became the catalyst to launch The Chapel Sydney.

Growing up in the migrant ethnic church, we recognised that the 2nd generation were not bound by language or culture but should be faithful and obedient to God’s desire to make disciples of all nations. And that has been our desire since.

Originally meeting in the Chatswood Church of Christ, in 2019, God opened up the door to plant a second campus in Burwood, at the old Burwood Church of Christ. And then in 2021, due to external circumstances, we had to close our Chatswood campus and move all of our operations to Burwood.

Our desire is still the same – to help people belong to Jesus, to become like Jesus and to be a blessing in Jesus’ name.
