THU, 15th October

As we continue on with Revelation, let us recap the story so far:

  1. It all began one Sunday on the island of Patmos when John received a vision of the Lord Jesus (glorified and walking among the lampstands). John was informed by Jesus Christ regarding the things that were to come.
  2. John was told to write a personal message from Jesus to the seven churches.
  3. John was also shown a vision of heaven where God was seated on his throne and being worshipped by the heavenly beings. There was a scroll in God’s hand and only Jesus was found worthy to open it and to reveal the contents within.
  4. The next few chapters (Revelation 6-11) show us this content  the scroll contained the seven seals; the seventh seal contained the seven trumpets; and the seventh trumpet contained the seven bowls (vials). Examine this image to better understand the structure:

Please watch the Bible Project video on Revelation 1-11 to give us context for the following chapters (the seven seals start at the 5:30 mark):

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom in understanding the book.
  2. Pray that we would take God’s message to us seriously and ask for strength to live it out.
