Exodus 25:1-40

Questions

  1. God gave very specific instructions on how he wanted the place of worship to be set up. Why do you think God was so specific and particular?
  2. Read the details in the passage. What are some of the things that stand out for you?
  3. These extraordinary configurations came from the Creator God who made the universe. What does it mean to you that God is creative?

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Thank God that he is not only creative, but also very specific.
  2. Pray that you would see the beauty in creation today. Take a moment to appreciate what you see around you, thanking God for all the possibilities.
  3. Seeker Monday: God made every human unique and wonderful. Pray for an unchurched friend or family member, giving thanks for God’s unique and wonderful expression in them, and that they would come to know the Designer of their lives.

TUE, 28th July

Exodus 26:1-37

The tabernacle was an earthly building designed to teach heavenly realities, a microcosm of the universe. Inside was heaven, and outside was earth, with God at the centre of it all. It was the most important place in the world, a little bit of heaven on earth, configured to show that God rules over both heaven and earth.

Questions

  1. Take some time to read through the details of the tabernacle in appreciation.
  2. Name one thing that you know is very beautiful and also very detailed.
  3. Once again, we are reminded of the very nature of God his amazing creativity, alongside the attention to detail. What does this say about us who are also his creation?

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Thank God for his creativity, for the variety and diversity we get to enjoy in this world.
  2. Pray that we may use our creativity and skills to glorify the Creator God.

WED, 29th July

Exodus 27:1-21

Questions

  1. There are many details here again. Don’t just glance over it embrace it. Remember how specific and intention God is in his work.
  2. In the same way, God is intentional in the way he builds the church. He is so specific and detailed, yet abundantly colourful and creative. How is our church specific and creative?

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Give thanks to God for our church. Thank God for the journey that our church has been through so far, and the future that he has prepared.
  2. Leadership Wednesday: pray for the leaders that within their uniqueness and diversity, God would use each of them intentionally and with great purpose.

THU, 30th July

Exodus 28:1-43

Questions

  1. Who chose for Aaron and his sons to be the priests?
  2. What words were used to describe their clothes?
  3. God used skilled workers blessed with wisdom to serve in this manner. What skills do you think you have from God that you could use to serve his kingdom?

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Pray that God would use the skills and talents that he has graciously equipped you with for his kingdom, rather than just on yourself.
  2. Pray that you would also be able to appreciate the skills that God has given to those around you even if they are different. Pray that we wouldn’t be divided, but have a spirit of unity to work together in light of our differences.

FRI, 31st July

Exodus 29:1-46

Questions

  1. How long did the process of consecration of the priests take? Why do you think God told them to do it for such a long time?
  2. What kind of things was Moses instructed to perform in the consecration of the priests? What was the purpose of the anointing?
  3. God set apart the meeting place, where he would come and dwell. How does it feel to know that our God is one who comes and dwells with us?

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Pray that we would be patient with God, and with whatever he is wanting to do in our lives.
  2. Ask God to come and meet with you today, and to come and dwell with you.
  3. Mission Friday: pray for the world that God would come and once again walk the earth.

SAT, 1st August

Exodus 30:1-10

Questions

  1. What was the purpose of the altar of incense? What was the symbolic meaning behind it?
  2. Atonement is defined as the action of making amends for a wrong or injury. What was the wrong that was being amended in this particular atonement process?
  3. Jesus is now our ultimate atonement. What does this mean?

Prayer Suggestions

  1. Thank God for sending his Son (Jesus) to be our atonement, the payment made for our sins. Take a moment to reflect on that today and respond to God.
