MON, 17th August
Exodus 35:4-29
Questions
- Where did the materials used to build the tabernacle come from?
- Who came to help make everything that God commanded?
- Verse 21 describes: “Everyone who was willing and whose heart moved them came and brought an offering to the Lord for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.” What about you and your heart? Would you be willing to serve and give? What stops you from doing so?
Prayer Suggestions
- Let us thank God for our church community today. Let us thank him that we belong to such a serving and generous community.
- Pray for opportunities to serve God and to give to his church, his people. Pray that we would always be ready to love the church.
- Seeker Monday: as you pray for your friend or family member, pray that they would benefit from the way the church serves and gives.
TUE, 18th August
Exodus 35:30-36:7
Questions
- What do you think God wants you to do for the church and his community? Are you being obedient in serving and giving, or are you ignoring what God is commanding you to do?
- “Because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work” (v7). This is a picture of a generous community — one that gives so that there is no need. In Acts 2, we see that the first church was also like this — they gave until there was no need. Is there something you can give to fill a need in the church? Do you know what the needs are?
Prayer Suggestions
- Ask God to show you the needs of those around you, especially in the church.
- Pray for the opportunities to be obedient to God in responding to these needs.
WED, 19th August

Questions
- What was the purpose of the tabernacle?
- How does the tabernacle help us appreciate Jesus more?
Prayer Suggestions
- Thank God for wanting a personal relationship with each and every one of us.
- Also thank God that he is such a detailed God. Thank him that everything that is going to happen to you today is part of God’s detailed plan for your life.
- Leadership Wednesday: thank God for the leaders of the church.
THU, 20th August
Exodus 37:1-29
Questions
- We see the contents within the tabernacle detailed and built just as was described previously. What is one thing that stands out for you in all this construction?
- How obedient were the Israelites in carrying out God’s instructions? Are we also like this? Are we that obedient in God’s specific commandments for us?
- Is there a commandment that you received from God that you are still yet to obey? Why? What is stopping you?
Prayer Suggestions
- Ask God for full obedience, that we would submit to and obey everything that he asks for — even the specifics.
- Ask God for courage to live obediently under him even in the face of opposition.
- Ask God for something specific for today — something that you can obey him today.
FRI, 21st August
Exodus 38:1-30
Questions
- Describe the amount of gold, silver, and bronze that were collected for the sake of building the tabernacle. Do you remember where all this came from?
- What are some things in your life that God is asking you to offer to him which have been provided by God in the first place? List at least three things and be specific.
- Our God is a faithful God. Take some time to reflect on his consistency and faithfulness.
Prayer Suggestions
- Thank God for his ongoing consistency and faithfulness. Thank him for being the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- Thank God for his provision in our lives. If we really think about it, everything we have comes from God, so we should thank him.
- Mission Friday: God is so consistent that his heart for the nations is still the same today — he yearns for them. Ask God to transplant his heart into yours.
SAT, 22nd August
Exodus 39:1-31
Questions
- The inscription mentioned in verse 30 (“Holy to the Lord”) means that they had been set apart by God to be devoted to him. In the New Testament, we are told that Jesus had also made us priests (1 Peter 2:9, 1 Peter 2:4-5, Revelation 5:10). What implications does it have for you to know that you are holy to the Lord and have been set apart by God?
For an extended look at how the beautifully detailed garments of the High Priest represent Jesus, consult the following video:
Prayer Suggestions
- Praise God for showing us how the priestly garments point to Jesus.
- Give thanks to God that he has set you apart to be devoted to his service.
- Pray for brothers and sisters of The Chapel Sydney and The Chapel Burwood to understand that it is an honour and privilege to serve the Lord our God.
